Term 4 Week 10

Wow... the last week of school!
We made a Christmas tree by tracing the shape of our hands onto green paper, cutting them out
and sticking them onto the shape of a tree.

Term 4 - Week 8

Year Three Camp!
Check out Room 4's blog to see a slideshow with more pictures.
Thanks so much to all of our wonderful parent helpers,
there wouldn't have been a camp without you!

Term 4 - Week 6

We have been studying Heroes of Greek Mythology
as part of our Topic work.
We drew pictures that represented some of the tasks that Heracles was set by the cruel and jealous king.

Term 4 - Week 5

The 'Tahunanui's Got Talent' finals saw some amazing acts on stage.Well done to everyone who had the courage to get up and perform!

Term 4 - Week 4

The class created some very cool artwork
using squashed aluminium cans.
First a design was penciled onto the can,
then the outline was traced with vivid
and finally the paint went on.
We had to use fine-tipped brushes and work slowly and carefully!

Term 4 - Week 3

We continue our athletics training with a bit of high-jump.

Term 4 - Week 2

We begun our Algebra unit by taking on the challenge of designing a staircase that required 3 steps to go up and three to get back down again. We had to work out how it would be made and how many blocks it would take.

Then we tried to work out a key for predicting how many blocks you would need for a 4 step and a 5 step staircase.  We worked out that if you multiply the number of steps by the same number, that gives you how many blocks it will need. e.g a 3 step needed 9 blocks, a 5 step staircase needs 25 blocks.

Some year 4 students come in to show us how their recycled can art ended up.
We thought it looked great, well done!
